“Art For The Soul” by Deb Koffman at Library

“Art For The Soul,” a show featuring cartoons, interactive sculpture and books by artist and author Deb Koffman, will run from July 22 through August 22 at Roeliff Jansen Community Library. An opening reception will be held on July 22, 5:30-7 pm.

“Deb’s lighthearted, playful artwork and inspirational writing—where art, mindfulness and humor meet—will appeal to audiences of all ages. Adults will want to bring children and grandchildren to this show—if not to the opening, then to the library while the show is on,” says Lonnie Kalfus of RJCL’s Art Committee.

Interactive sculptures on exhibit include such pieces as The Complaint Booth, a life size ‘booth’ that can be used to practice complaining, and are adult-supervised child-friendly. Books will also be offered, for perusal and for sale, with titles such as The Soul Support Book, Being With a Block, The Blank Page, Finding My Way. Koffman’s books contain cartoons and inspirational messages about creativity, choice, being mindful and honoring all of our feelings.

Deb Koffman is an artist, illustrator, writer and teacher. She offers a weekly class in her studio in drawing/writing as a mindfulness practice, and hosts an open mic on the first Tuesday of every month for community members to share their poems, songs and stories.
