Transformers of Folk Music: Songs and Piano by Dvorak and Grieg

On Sunday, October 28 at 5 pm, soprano Sun Young Chang and pianist Mitchell Vines will appear at the Roe Jan Library. They will perform works by Anton Dvorak and Edvard Grieg.

Sun Young Chang, soprano, has worked extensively performing and teaching voice, both in her native Korea and in the United States.  She received her Masters and Professional Studies degrees from Mannes College of Music and made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2006, and has performed there several times since.  She has sung leading opera roles with various companies in venues including the Kaye Playhouse and the Actors Studio in New York City.  She is a Teaching Artist for the Metropolitan Opera Guild and has been a private voice instructor and coach since 2002.  She has been faculty at the Berkshire Choral Festival.  She also gives her time generously to several charities in New York City.

Pianist Mitchell Vines’ has performed in Europe, South America, Asia and throughout the United States.  Mr. Vines’ professional associations include the Berkshire Choral Festival and New York Summer Opera Scenes. Mr. Vines has accompanied numerous singers and instrumentalists, and is in high demand as a collaborative pianist.  His teaching experience includes positions with the Aspen Music Festival, Mannes School of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music and the Harlem School of the Arts.
