The Roe Jan Park’s park’s organization is characterized by a series of many different partnerships. After the purchase of this land, the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation formed an innovative partnership with the Town of Hillsdale. While the state owns the land, the Town of Hillsdale manages the RJP. In early 2008, the Hillsdale Town Board appointed a Park Steering Committee made up of community members from Hillsdale and Copake to help guide the initial development and management of the park. Though the volunteers on the committee have evolved, it has engaged many other community volunteers (“park partners” ) to help open and maintain the park. Visit www.roejanpark.org for more information.
