Farmscape Ecology Program at Sunset Rock

The next Ecology Walk will visit Sunset Rock in Taconic State Park on Saturday, June 9, 9 am-noon.

Explore an example of Dry Oak Forest and Oak Heath Shrubland along the Southern Taconic Trail. Check out the FEP blog for a description of the area from an ecology walk led there in early June 2015.

The walk will be guided by Claudia and Conrad Vispo of the Hawthorne Valley Farmscape Ecology Program.  It is free and suitable for all ages.  Learn how to recognize some of the plants that are common on the high and dry ridges of the Taconics, but not so often seen in other parts of the County.  Explore the insect life of this beautiful area.  Space is limited, so please register by email hidden; JavaScript is required or call 518-672-7994.

Meet in the parking area of the RoeJan Park/Hillsdale Farmer’s Market just south of Hillsdale and carpool from there, because parking is limited at the trailhead.  We will return to the parking lot in time for you to pick up a lunch and shop for the week at the Hillsdale Farmer’s Market.
