Primary Election for Democrats

Thursday, September 13, is a a primary day in New York State for registered Democrats.  You can vote in person at the Hillsdale Firehouse (just north of the intersection of 22/23).  Polls will be open from NOON until 9 pm for the primary.  If there is any chance you will not be able to vote in person, now is the time to make a plan to vote absentee.

YOU HAVE SEVERAL OPTIONS:

1. MAIL IN AN ABSENTEE APPLICATION

Fill out and sign the absentee application and mail to:

(applications must be postmarked by September 6)

The BOE will send you back a ballot. Don’t delay in it sending back. Ballots must be postmarked by September 12 (the day before the primary). Mail as early as possible to ensure delivery on time. You can also drop off your ballot at the BOE at 401 State Street during office hours (see below). 

2. VISIT THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS

You can go directly to the Board of Elections office and fill out an application in person. You will then be handed a ballot to fill out and submit in person.  The hours are as follows:

MONDAY – FRIDAY 8AM – 4PM

THERE WILL BE EXTENDED HOURS FOR THE PRIMARY:

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6:  8AM – 7PM

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8:  9AM – NOON

The BOE is expecting increased numbers on Saturday, so please try to make it there on the early side.

P.S.  If you think you will also need an absentee for the November election, you can check the “Any election held between these dates” box.  Use the date you mail in your absentee for the start date and 12/31/18 as the end date.  This way you will be set for November also.
