Free Writers Studio Workshop Offered at Library

Therese Eiben from The Writers Studio will lead a workshop demonstrating the Writers Studio technique of discovering and developing narrative voice for fiction, memoir or poetry, at Roeliff Jansen Community Library on Thursday, December 6, 5:30-7:30 pm.

The class is free and is limited to 20 participants. To participate, sign up at the front desk at Roe Jan Library, or call the library at (518) 325-4101.

Writers Studio Description:

“The Writers Studio, founded in 1987 by Pulitzer Prize winning poet Philip Schultz, offers ongoing writing workshops…designed to help students discover and nurture their own voices.… We have developed our own teaching method, which gives students the opportunity to ‘try on’ many different narrative approaches. In the process of studying and trying out the techniques found in a wide array of published work, students end up discovering their own material and voice. They also find a supportive community of like-minded classmates….”

Therese Eiben is the co-director of The Writers Studio Hudson Valley branch, and teaches online for the school. Her nonfiction and fiction have appeared in many venues. Her story “Chekhov Said” was a finalist in Glimmer Train’s July 2012 Very Short Story Contest. She is the co-editor of The Practical Writer: From Inspiration to Publication and former editor of Poets & Writers magazine.
