Cartoonist Barbara Slate Teach Art of the Graphic Novel

Cartoonist Barbara Slate will teach the Art of the Graphic Novel, a 4-session workshop series for teens and adults, on four consecutive Thursdays from 6-8 pm at the Roe Jan Library beginning March 28. Students will learn how to create a graphic novel, with emphasis on the creative process and how to write a character study, create layouts, and focus on the narrative of the story. No experience or drawing skills are necessary.

Participants must commit to all four sessions. Advance registration is also required: please call 518-325-4101 or visit the Roe Jan Library.

Barbara Slate has written, drawn, and created over 300 stories for Marvel, DC Comics, and Archie Comics. She is featured in the book, A Century of Women Cartoonists, and is the author of You Can Do a Graphic Novel.

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Greene County Council on the Arts.
