State Route 23 will be opening on JUNE 13 TH: As part of this project, DOT contractors have completed the installation of the new precast box culvert concrete drainage structure to replace the culvert that carries the Roeliff Jansen Kill Tributary under State Route 23.  We have also completed the replacement of the road surface and are currently working on completing installation of the new guide railing, and the final miscellaneous work at the site as well as the application of the pavement markings. At this time, we plan to have this section of State Route 23 reopened to traffic by Friday, June 13, 2025 if not sooner.   NYS DOT ROAD CLOSURE OF STATE ROUTE 23: Replacing critical infrastructure and ensuring the safety of the traveling public is of the utmost importance and this includes the upcoming replacement of the culvert along State Route 23 East of the State Route 22 intersection in the vicinity of Herrington’s. At this time, work is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 14, 2025.    As part of this project, DOT contractors will close State Route 23 to thru traffic between State Route NY 22 and Old Town Road, in the vicinity of Herringtons, on April 14, 2025. At that time, crews will begin removing the existing culvert that carries the Roeliff Jansen Kill Tributary under State Route 23 and installing a new culvert. The roadway will be replaced in kind.  This process will take approximately 8 weeks, weather permitting. State Route 23 will remain closed to all but local traffic between State Route 22 and Old Town Road for the duration of our work.
