DESCRIPTION:Everyone has a story to tell! Come to this workshop and learn to transform your personal experiences into engaging\, well organized\, and memorable stories. Using Ancram Opera House’s REAL PEOPLE REAL STORIES approach to storytelling\, workshop leader Paul Ricciardi (Co-Director of Ancram Opera House) will guide you in exercises you can use to create great stories! You will be invited to pitch your stories for the July 27 event: REAL PEOPLE REAL STORIES at the Ancram Opera House. Paul Ricciardi is the co-artistic director of the Ancram Opera House and an award-winning teacher\, actor\, director and voice/speech/dialect coach. He is an associate professor at the City University of New York/Kingsborough CC where he teaches voice and acting. He received the 2018 Kennedy Center National Teaching Artist Award. Called “The Gold Medallion”\, it is considered one of the great honors in theatre education.

DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Saturday\, June 8th on a private property located within Taconic State Park for a very special birding event. \nAt 11 am renowned birder Kathryn Schneider will lead a hands-on walk and workshop (following a 9 am talk that you may wish to attend also). She will focus on finding and identifying birds in the field. DESCRIPTION:John Buchanan will speak about his book The Road to Charleston: Nathanael Greene and the American Revolution\, at the Roeliff Jansen Community Library on Saturday\, June 15\, at 5:00 pm. \nIn The Road to Charleston\, Buchanan continues the exploration of the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War\, which he began in his acclaimed The Road to Guilford Courthouse. More here. \nThe Library Journal describes the book as “[a] lively chronicle of the arduous fight of the Americans to reclaim Georgia and the Carolinas…. With a colorful cast of characters…[t]his engaging read for military and American history enthusiasts provides an in-depth review” of the importance of Southern campaign’s contribution to American Independence. \nJohn Buchanan\, former chief registrar of the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, is the author of The Road to Valley Forge: How Washington Built the Army that Won the Revolution and The Road to Guilford Courthouse: The American Revolution in the Carolinas.  He has visited the Roe Jan area frequently over many years.
