Request for Applicants for a Seat on the Hillsdale CAC

The Hillsdale Town Board and Conservation Advisory Council are accepting applications for membership on the Hillsdale Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) through July 31, 2018.

The CAC is a five-member advisory body authorized by New York General Municipal Law, Article 12-F, Section 239-x.  The CAC gathers and disseminates information, conducts research and makes recommendations to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and Town Board on matters related to the development, management and protection of natural resources.  The CAC holds one regular meeting on the fourth Thursday of each month but conducts much of its work in the periods between meetings.

Eligible applicants must reside in the town of Hillsdale and have a strong interest in the mission of the council, the time and willingness to work on CAC tasks, and the willingness and ability to work cooperatively with other CAC members and with other town agencies.  There are no minimum professional qualifications, but some knowledge of or experience in the environmental sciences, land use planning, engineering or environmental law is most helpful.

Members are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Town Board for two-year terms.  This is a rewarding volunteer position for which there is no compensation.

Interested applicants may submit a letter of interest and resume or summary of their background relevant to service on the CAC to Hillsdale CAC, c/o David Lewis, 2719 State Route 23, Hillsdale, NY 12529, or by email to email hidden; JavaScript is required.
