NYS DOT ROAD CLOSURE OF STATE ROUTE 23: Replacing critical infrastructure and ensuring the safety of the traveling public is of the utmost importance and this includes the upcoming replacement of the culvert along State Route 23 East of the State Route 22 intersection in the vicinity of Herrington’s. At this time, work is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 14, 2025.    As part of this project, DOT contractors will close State Route 23 to thru traffic between State Route NY 22 and Old Town Road, in the vicinity of Herringtons, on April 14, 2025. At that time, crews will begin removing the existing culvert that carries the Roeliff Jansen Kill Tributary under State Route 23 and installing a new culvert. The roadway will be replaced in kind.  This process will take approximately 8 weeks, weather permitting. State Route 23 will remain closed to all but local traffic between State Route 22 and Old Town Road for the duration of our work.

ROE JAN MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

DESCRIPTION

On Memorial Day (May 26th, 2025), the VFW Post 7552/Cadby Shutts Unit will be holding the annual Roe Jan Memorial Day Parade in Hillsdale, NY.  The parade is a rotating event amongst the towns of Hillsdale, Copake and Ancram.

The parade kick off will be at noon and proceed down Maple street and take a right on Anthony Street.  The parade will proceed up Anthony to State Route 23 and pause at the Civil War Memorial for a wreath laying before taking a right to head east.

Proceeding down 23, the parade will stop for a brief wreath laying ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial located on Route 23 next to the Sherriff's substation and the proceed east to the intersection of State Route 22.

At the intersection, the parade will head north on State Route 22 for approximately ½ mile and end at the Hillsdale Fire Company #1.
