The Town Supervisor may, from time to time, appoint one or more committees, consisting of members of the Town Board, to advise and assist the Board in the performance of its duties. Committees may make studies and report back to the Board with recommendations. In doing so, committees are authorized to conduct formal or informal meetings and hearings, but they cannot make decisions on behalf of the Town Board. They are not authorized to raise funds or make decisions that affect policy or direction. All Town Board committees are considered public bodies subject to the Open Meetings Law. Any Hillsdale resident is welcome to participate in Town Committees or simply observe its meetings. Read the policy here: Town Committee Policy 2021
