NYS DOT ROAD CLOSURE OF STATE ROUTE 23: Replacing critical infrastructure and ensuring the safety of the traveling public is of the utmost importance and this includes the upcoming replacement of the culvert along State Route 23 East of the State Route 22 intersection in the vicinity of Herrington’s. At this time, work is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 14, 2025. As part of this project, DOT contractors will close State Route 23 to thru traffic between State Route NY 22 and Old Town Road, in the vicinity of Herringtons, on April 14, 2025. At that time, crews will begin removing the existing culvert that carries the Roeliff Jansen Kill Tributary under State Route 23 and installing a new culvert. The roadway will be replaced in kind. This process will take approximately 8 weeks, weather permitting. State Route 23 will remain closed to all but local traffic between State Route 22 and Old Town Road for the duration of our work.
