Concert for Children and Families with “Sauerkraut” Seth Travins

January 26, 2019@11:30 am

Roe Jan Library will present popular performer Seth Travins in concert on Saturday, January 26 at 11:30am. The concert is for children and their families. Seth will alternate between guitar, ukulele, and banjo as he shares the music of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and others from the American folk tradition.

“Sauerkraut” Seth Travins is a singer-songwriter and multi- instrumentalist who has resided in Columbia County for 20 years. He has been singing folk songs to children, particularly those by Woody Guthrie, since his time as a student at Bard College. He also plays in a band called the Wiyos that has played many children’s concerts over the years including numerous at Carnegie Hall as well as some outer boroughs through the Carnegie Kids Program.

For several years, Travins has been hosting his own, old-style roots-music revues at Club Helsinki Hudson. At these events, Travins has been described as a one-man marvel of old-time country, Western swing, honky-tonk, and early rock ‘n’ roll styles.

When not performing, “Sauerkraut” Seth Travins can often be found making organic lacto-fermented sauerkrauts and kimchee under his own label in Hudson. Seth’s original sauerkraut is served on the bar menu at Helsinki Hudson.
