Kalfus X2, New Works, Maj and Lonny Kalfus: Art Exhibit Opening Reception

November 2, 2019@5:00 pm-7:00 pm

The creative energies of Maj and Lonny Kalfusl unite in a joint exhibition of Photography, Drawings, and Paintings at the Roeliff Jansen Library.  The Opening Reception will take place on Saturday, November 2, 5 – 7 pm.  The exhibit will run through Wednesday, December 4.

Maj Kalfus, fine artist, illustrator, cartoonist, and teacher will feature a selection of her new graphite drawings on paper and canvas. Lonny Kalfus will highlight selections from his new abstract photo collages, many inspired by the colors of San Miguel.

The exhibition expresses their decades-long creative collaboration in life and art. “It is invaluable to have an in-house critic and muse,” says Maj about their ongoing conversations: regarding their work, the process of making art, museum and gallery exhibits, travel, new subjects, and visual aesthetics.

As full-time residents of Columbia County Maj and Lonny have individual studios in their 100-year-old farmhouse near Copake Lake. They have both been active in the arts community with many solo and group shows. Lonny recently chaired the arts committee for the Roe Jan Library and Maj teaches art at the Arts School of Columbia County and privately in her studio.
